RRG VS Ring City Rollergirls

April 14, 2008

Last night ROGUE was again victorious, but nothing came easy last night. ROGUE was honored to help Ring City begin their derby journey by hosting them in their first ever bout. Ring City had a few skaters but not enough to play a whole bout so Rogue loaned them 3 of their senior girls. But even they couldn't help Ring City against the tight teamwork of ROGUE. Led by Smacker Jax and coached by Evl Grl, they continued their rampage. ROGUE introduced some of their newest warriors- WestCoast Ma Fia, Lil' Bill, Sourgirl and Intended Anger. In the middle of the second period, tragedy struck as WestCoast Ma Fia moved to block an opponent and landed wrong. The ambulance was called and WestCoast was wheeled out amongst cheers from her new fans. She is in the hospital awaiting surgery for her broken leg. ROGUE has rallied to help their fallen derby sister... Final score 110-75 Rogue

RRG VS Palmetto State Rollergirls

March 30, 2008

We played the incredible Palmetto State Rollergirls last night in SC. What a night. We had quite a tough time figuring out the strictly enforced WFTDA rules (by the wonderful refs from Carolina and Tomahawk along with Palmettos refs)- it is easier to read and teach than to execute. It was a great learning experience for us. Thanks to Palmetto for being a great challenge and for forcing us to rethink and constantly change our strategy. We loved it! FINAL SCORE: ROGUE wins 78-48 (unofficially)

Rogue Rollergirls

VS

Richmond Derby Demons

June 29, 2007

Rogue Rollergirls hosted the Richmond Derby Demons for our first ever home interleague bout. The Demons drove here to test their skill against Rogue but had a few bumps along the way- their captain went to the hospital right before leaving to Fayetteville (with a kidney stone-ouch!), then their co-captain got injured at a practice and couldn't skate, a couple of the other Demon skaters had to attend to some family business... But the Demons didn't quit and cancel the trip, they borrowed some skaters from other leagues in Virginia and pressed on. True warriors. Now they come to Fayetteville with girls from 2 other teams and still gave us a run for our money. The hits were hard, the blocking was strong, and it was definitely a challenge! Luckily Rogue fans, the Rogue skaters had been preparing for war and were ready for that challenge. Our girls worked like a well-oiled machine. Working together to defeat the obstacles put before them. Fayetteville, you should be proud of what Rogue has accomplished. It was no easy task! Rogue would like to thank the Richmond Derby Demons, the River City Rollergirls and Star City Rollergirls for representing Virginia with a fierce passion. It was an unforgettable night!

Final Score:  124-64 Rogue

Rogue Rollergirls Debuts Their Travel Team!
May 12, 2007

The Rogue Rollergirls were invited to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Gem City Rollergirls for their season opener at the Nutter Center. RRG brought 10 skaters, 2 bench coaches, our Head Ref and our resident photog and had the first RRG Road Trip! The Dayton girls met Rogue Friday night with dinner after the girls drove all day but the happy times didn't last as they took to the floor Saturday afternoon.

The RRG faced a great challenge- Dayton's hockey team was set to play Saturday evening so instead of skating on the nice concrete floor, Rogue had to skate on plastic-type tiles that were laid down to cover the ice for the hockey game later that night. Some tiles were slick, some were grippy. Gem City had a few practices on the floor and reported what they thought of the surface to try to help Rogue out but there's no substitution for seeing it first hand. The RRG had another small challenge, taking on Bull Lee's first derby league- one that has been around a year longer than Rogue and has ALL of the same skaters they had a year ago plus one. These were some experienced players but nothing scares Rogue...we love a challenge!

The first period was a whirlwind as Rogue learned what tricks Gem City had planned. The first few jams, they were hanging neck and neck but then GCRG pulled out all the stops and took off and the points quickly spread out.

The second period was the transition period for Rogue as they began to plot their strategy to combat Gem City's plays. It took a few jams but spirits began to lift as Rogue saw results, slowing Gem City's scoring substantially.

The last period of the bout, Rogue began to show Gem City what we were all about. The walls kept Gem City frustrated. The hits kept them bruised. The jammers kept them chasing. They even tried some psychological tricks, yelling that we were out of play as the refs looked on shaking their heads. We were standing up to the bully and the results felt good. Playing Gem City taught Rogue many things, the most important being- Rogue is a force to be reckoned with!

Come see for yourself- Exhibition Bout June 7 at 7pm at Round-A-Bout Skating Rink on Bragg Blvd. Tickets are on sale now! Visit the home page to purchase online!

RRG Maiden Mission!!!
March 22, 2007

Nearly 400 people turned out to watch the Rogue Rollergirls' newly formed teams, the Black Mambas and the Cherry Belles, duke it out at their very first bout! The crowd was not dissappointed! The Mambas and the Belles threw down in 3 rough and tumble 20 minute periods. The Belles took an early hit when Rajun Cajun was injured in the first period and the Mambas showed no sympathy. The Belles held their own, however, with a final score of:

Black Mambas: 110
Cherry Belles: 99

RRG Meet the Reedy River Girls!
February 11, 2007

The Rogue Rollergirls took a field trip down to Greenville, SC for a joint practice session with the Reedy River Rollergirls. We learned tons of new drills and gained the valuable experience of scrimmaging someone other than our own teammates! We even set up a mock "bout" during which we blew the RRRG away with a score of 142-71!!! Watch out! The Rogue Rollergirls are coming up fast and making a name for ourselves!
